This pre-release notice explains the current Bonvin preview and the safeguards being prepared before cloud accounts become publicly available.

Pre-release version · Updated August 29, 2026

Pre-release notice

Bonvin is in private development. The current iOS preview keeps cellar and journal information on the device. This page will be replaced by the final reviewed policy before public account registration or App Store release.

Information Bonvin may process

Depending on the features you choose, Bonvin may process:

  • Name, email address, authentication provider and account identifiers.
  • Wine records, quantities, storage descriptions, purchase values and wishlist items.
  • Tasting notes, ratings, flavor tags, occasions and favorites.
  • Photos you choose for label identification and text extracted from those photos.
  • Friend connections and content you intentionally choose to share.
  • Subscription and entitlement status supplied by Apple.
  • Limited diagnostics needed to keep the service reliable, if enabled at release.

Wine photos

Bonvin does not intend to retain original label photos. If remote identification is required, the app will remove embedded metadata, resize and re-encode the image, and send only a sanitized temporary derivative for that request. The temporary derivative will be deleted when processing succeeds, fails or expires.

Private label photos, cellar information and tasting notes will not be used to train a general-purpose model without separate, informed consent.

How information is used

  • Identify wines and maintain a personal cellar.
  • Synchronize an account across devices when the user chooses cloud backup.
  • Provide tasting, valuation and maturity features with visible provenance.
  • Process subscriptions and restore access.
  • Prevent abuse, investigate failures and answer support requests.

Bonvin does not sell personal information or use private wine data for cross-app advertising.

Service providers

The planned production service uses Apple for distribution, authentication and payment; Supabase for authentication, database and server functions; and Superwall for paywall presentation. Google and Meta are used only when the user selects those login methods. Wine-data and diagnostic providers will be named here before their features are enabled.

Your choices

Bonvin is being designed to let users access, correct, export and delete applicable information. Account deletion will remove the account and associated information unless a narrowly defined legal obligation requires limited retention.

Privacy questions can be sent to privacy@bonvin.app. Security concerns can be sent to security@bonvin.app.

Children and alcohol-related content

Bonvin is intended for adults interested in wine and is not directed to children. It does not currently sell alcohol or encourage excessive consumption.
